The School Day

FOUNDATION & KEY STAGE 1 (Classes N, Classes R, 1 and 2)
Breakfast Starts 7.30am (This will be in September, but not the 1st Week back - Rob will be in touch
Bridge Breakfast (A calm, chilled start to help kids bridge between home and school) 8.20am
School starts Doors open 8.45am
Morning Break 10.10 – 10.25 am
Lunch time 12.00 – 1.00 pm
School closes 3.00pm
Key Stage 2 (Classes 3, 4, 5 and 6)

The dismissal of the Infant children takes time - they are dismissed individually, and only after the staff have seen the adult who is on "pick up" duty! Infant classes  are dismissed from their own classroom door. To help out, increase taeching time and loads of other reasons Infant kids and their brothers and sisters will be dismissed through the infant doors

All other Junior children dismissed through the Beehive door or the other entrance off the Playground. 

Any children who are not picked up from Junior Yard should wait around the supervised quiet area. The adult on duty will bring them into school when all other children have gone home. 

To help us out, it would be helpful if children stayed with their adult on the playground, rather than running and playing.

Emergency School Closure procedures, and inclement weather registers 

We are required by the DFE to update our procedures regularly for what should happen in the event of the school having to close due to adverse weather conditions or any other emergency.

A decision to close the school rests with the Headteacher in consultation with the Chair of Governors, following appropriate risk assessments and advice from various agencies. My belief is school has to stay open. However, if staff can't get in and we have to close, the following steps, in order of action, will be taken to notify parents/carers.

Email Communication via DOJO

We will send an email to all parents and carers registered with our DOJO system to inform them if the school is closed as soon as possible.

The School Reception

The phone system will be updated with information about any closure. Please ring 01772 796009 and listen to the initial phone message.

Local Radio

Local radio stations have agreed to broadcast details of school closures, and you are advised to stay tuned for announcements and updates. 

Extreme Circumstances

If a significant deterioration in weather takes place during the school day, then we would follow the steps above to begin to close the school. 

However, my general rule of thumb and default is to keep the school open. Even if we just child mind for the day, allowing other parents of essential services to work. I acknowledge that when the roads are tricky, it is a parents' decision whether to travel or not, I support that. To make things safer, and less stressful, when it has snowed, and this affects the footpaths and the roads, registers remain open until 9.30am... allowing for safe travel, fall free walking, and maybe an extra warm drink before departure whilst wrapping up warm!
