School dinners update September 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Yesterday, all Lancashire schools were informed by Catering Services that a simplified temporary menu will take effect from 4th October for a 3 week period. We are informed this "has become necessary due to the ongoing difficulties being encountered with food product availability and delivery consistency."

All their kitchen staff employees have been instructed not to deviate from this temporary menu/

As you may imagine, I'm not happy about this change as we pride ourselves at Moor Nook on providing a varied choice of high quality meals. I can only hope it will be as temporary as stated and that parents understand we have had no choice in the matter.

Thank you for your continued support.

Water Bottles in School
Dear Parents/Carers,

Just a reminder that water bottles for use in class must only contain water, not flavoured water or juice.

Children can bring juice with their packed lunch but this must be separate to their class water bottle. If your child has juice in their water bottle they may be asked to pour it out and replace it with water.
Thank you for your support with this.
Yours sincerely,

September 2021 Reopening

Dear Parents/Carers

The Summer holidays have flown by and we have been busy preparing to return for the Autumn term.

As national restrictions have been removed, we have made some changes to our arrangements in school. We feel that, although we can relax some of our 'rules' about the children being kept in separate 'bubbles', there are some arrangements that will remain for now, to be reviewed in the coming weeks.

The main change for you to be aware of is the entrances and exits to and from school.

In the mornings, Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y2 will enter school through their external classroom doors when doors open at 8.50am and exit through them at 3.00pm. Years 3 - 6 will all gather on the main yard and enter through the main door when opened by me at 8.50am. We shall no longer be using the Mitton Drive exits. Please be aware that, as previously, there will be no supervision on the yard before the doors open at 8.50am. Breakfast Club will start, as usual, at 8.30am and is open to all children for a voluntary contribution of 20p per day.

The latest guidance from the DfE states that 'individuals are not required to self-isolate if they live in the same household, or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, if they are below the age of 18 years and 6 months'. This means that unless your child has symptoms or has tested positive there is no need for them to be absent from school.

We look forward to seeing all our children back in school for the first day of the new term.

If you have any queries or concerns, please contact the school office after 8am on Wednesday morning.

Thank you.
